MAKE A DIFFERENCE

From volunteering in the classroom to joining campus-wide committees, there are many ways to support our school community.

Get Involved: Join Our Community

At SRCSA, families don't just drop off their kids - they become part of something special. Our school thrives because parents, guardians, and community members show up, pitch in, and connect with one another!

SACO (School for the Arts Community Organization) is the heartbeat of our parent community. As our PTO, SACO organizes school events, fundraisers, and activities that bring families together and enrich our students' lives both on and off campus. Joining SACO means connecting with other families, having a voice in school activities, and helping shape the experiences that make SRCSA so special.

Beyond SACO, there are countless ways to contribute: volunteering in classrooms, helping at events, beautifying our campus, or tackling projects from home. Every contribution, big or small, strengthens the fabric of our community and shows our students what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves.

Ready to jump in? All volunteers need to check in at the school office before heading onto campus. We can't wait to welcome you!

SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION (SACO)

Our school is supported by the School for the Arts Community Organization (SACO), a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded to serve as the parent-teacher organization for the school. Led by a Board comprised of 10+ parent volunteers, monthly evening meetings are held in a classroom on campus and everyone is encouraged to attend!

SACO provides regular communication to the school community about events and happenings through their platform Konstella, which includes weekly updates. Keep an eye out for new volunteer opportunities!

PARENT ADVISORY BOARD (PAB)

PAB is a group of teachers and parents that meet monthly to work with the principal to develop, review, and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. Other responsibilities include making decisions about parent engagement, safety and discipline. The voting members of PAB are elected and everyone is welcome to attend meetings.
One of the key responsibilities of PAB is to develop the Local Control Accountability Plan or LCAP. The LCAP describes the school's overall vision for students, annual goals, and specific actions the school will take to achieve the vision and goals. PAB must approve the plan, recommend it to the Santa Rosa City School Board, monitor its implementation, and evaluate the effectiveness of the planned activities at least annually.

 ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ELAC)

Each California public school with 21 or more English learners must form an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). Our ELAC committee meets approximately once a month.
The primary functions of ELAC are as follows:

  • Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners and submitting the plan to the Parent Advisory Board, or PAB, for consideration of inclusion in the Local Control Accountability Plan, or LCAP.

  • Assisting in the development of the school wide needs assessment.

  • Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.

  • Each ELAC shall have the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC). Districts with 31 or more ELACs may use a system of proportional or regional representation.
